Dear China Counsellors,
Thank you for your ongoing support of the graduate Engineering and IT programs at the University of Melbourne. I write to inform you of an important change to the admissions process relevant to applicants for 2017 entry.
As Australia’s leading school of engineering and technology we are committed to attracting the highest achieving students from around the world. The School recently undertook a review of entry standards and student performance outcomes, and as a result the minimum weighted average scores for students of non-211 universities will increase to 90% (up five points). This change will ensure we continue to create a high-achieving cohort and student experience. The entry requirements for 985 and 211 universities remain unchanged.
Please note that as has always been the case, due to the intense competition for places, meeting or exceeding the minimum academic entry requirements does not guarantee an offer.
The requirements are now as follows:
University
Score
985 university
75%
211 university
80%
Non-211 university
90%
These updated entry requirements apply to the following coursework degrees:
Engineering
? Master of Engineering (all specialisations)
? Master of Engineering Management
? Master of Telecommunications Engineering
? Master of Environmental Engineering
? Master of Energy Systems (Note: applicants without two years of relevant work experience require five points higher)
IT
? Master of Information Technology
? Master of Information Systems
Please refer to the Agent Training Manual for entry scores into other graduate IT degrees taught through the Faculty of Science (Master of Science degrees in Computer Science and Bioinformatics).
